Sweet Dreams

FullSizeRender (1)

A weekend away with family and friends is about fun, good times and relaxing… and ideally having a great sleep in and being spoilt with breakfast in bed. Hey, you deserve it! THE SHED has something for everyone with two bedrooms and a bunk room.

The Master Suite has incredible views across the green and down to the ocean blue. The huge King Size bed with custom black pallet base sits under a soaring 5.5 metre plywood ceiling which creates warmth. Beyond the bedhead is the ensuite complete with a deep clawfoot bath.

The second bedroom is a simple and beautiful room with high ceilings and french doors to the North, and features a Queen bed.

The bunk room is a huge kids/family and entertainment room which contains two double bunks, both with pull out trundle beds.

Whichever room you find yourself in, enjoy… Sweet Dreams!

Autumn Beach Treasure

Autumn is one of our favourite times anywhere on the NSW coast. The water is usually still quite warm, winds often light from the west, the blues of the ocean deeper and the crowds have gone! Sometimes it feels like people just forget to go to the beach once summer ends, which makes the many beaches and rock pools of the south coast the ideal playground for you and your family.  We love exploring the rockpools at Werri Beach, Walkers Beach, Shelly and Seven Mile/Gerroa Beach where these pics have been taken…. all just moments from The Shed.

Wine O’Clock

One of the many surprise discoveries we’ve had in our South Coast adventures, is the amount of amazing wineries there are just a stones throw away. With Autumn now upon us, it seems like the perfect time to be sitting in front of a roaring fire sipping on a freshly acquired glass of red from one of the local Cellar Doors. It’s not a bad way to get out of the wet weather either, as we did a few weeks ago having lunch & enjoying the view at Crooked River Wines

Wineries are located everywhere from Gerringong to Kangaroo Valley and Shoalhaven Heads to Bawley Point, and you can sample many of them at the 12th Annual Shoalhaven Coast Winter Wine Festival which is held over the June Long Weekend.

Cheers!

Christmas at The Shed

Christmas is always marked as a line in the sand for things to be completed and The Shed was no different.  It felt like a race to the finish line with a great prize awaiting us.  We were very excited to spend our first Christmas at The Shed with the kids and our extended family and friends – and here is what it looked like….

The Fireplace

The plan was always to have a double-sided fireplace which would act as a divider in the open plan living/dining area. Originally we were thinking of having a double sided GAS fireplace for ease and warmth that would be built into a central unit. After going back and forward and doing plenty of research on all the various types of fireplaces, we came to the conclusion that you really need the ambience of an open fire and we settled on a double sided open wood fireplace. We were just about to order it when the installer confirmed our fears of heating and draft issues. This took us full circle back to a French model, Chazelles Chiminee, which offers both slow combustion & an open fire through the use of a glass counterweight door on one side. Usually they are built into a wall or central unit, but we loved the strong lines and industrial feel of the fireplace so much, we thought it should be as much of a feature as the fire itself. Our architect designed a long steel stand for the fireplace to sit on – as well as the wood and other items. Looking forward to Winter!

Wrapt in Black

Black is bold!
So it was a bold decision to decide on black for THE SHED.
We had decided on a Colorbond finish for the entire exterior of THE SHED, we then just had to narrow down our colour palette. We knew we wanted a dark tone, but when originally looking the only colours available where Ironstone, Deep Ocean or Monument, as their black colour ‘NightSky’ had been discontinued. While we liked Monument we were never 100% sold. Fortunately by the time it came to order we were informed by Colorbond, by popular demand, ‘Nightsky’ was once again available. The decision was made, it was bold and beautiful.

Here’s THE SHED getting wrapped in black…

Walkers Beach

This magical spot is the backdrop to the picturesque Gerringong Golf Course and only a hop skip and a jump away from us. We are lucky enough to view this stunning secluded beach from THE SHED, which at times can offer some great wedgy beach breaks, salmon and tailor according to the local fisherman, and rock pool fun for the kids. Walkers Beach is only accessible through the North end of Gerringong Golf Course.
